BMW Motorrad unveils the R 1200 R, R 1200 R Classic and G 650 GS

BMW Motorrad recently announced further models to complete its 2011 range. Two revamped boxer-engined roadsters and single-cylinder adventure bike - the  R 1200 R, R 1200 R Classic and G 650 GS.

BMW K 1300 GT Exclusive Edition launched


BMW Motorrad have launched an exclusive version of their grand tourer the K 1300 GT.
The K 1300 GT Exclusive edition specification includes:-

• Electronic suspension adjustment (ESA II)
• ABS
• Cruise control
• Automatic stability control (ASC)
• Tyre pressure monitor (RDC).
• Heated grips
• Seat heating
• Xenon headlamp
• On-board computer
• Large topcase (49 l) with colour matched lid and common-key lock barrel
• New paint finish in Granite Grey metallic/Granite Grey metallic matt
• Exclusive Edition plate

BMW S 1000 RR in Production




Production of BMW's superbike (the one you can buy!) has started in the BMW Motorrad Plant in Berlin.

With a 999cc in-line 4-cylinder engine and a dry weight of 183 kg, plus newly developed sports ABS featuring four different modes as well as the dynamic traction control system DTC will be available.

The serial production machine BMW S 1000 RR will be presented to the public in the early summer 2009 but can be ordered in dealerships now apparently.

Many new BMW motorbikes for 2009

BMW Motorrad have a launched a host of new models for 2009, most of which are available to see at this years Carole Nash International Motorcycle and Scooter Show, they include:-


F 800 R - A highly distinctive naked mid-market segment model that adds an urban edge to the F 800 series.

K 1300 GT - A fast, comfortable and supreme tourer, the GT is expected to retain its 'best sports tourer' crown.

K 1300 S - Simply the fastest motorcycle BMW Motorrad has ever produced. The K1300 S is a top-of-the-range hypersports bike, combining blistering power with innovative technology to offer rapid everyday, or long-distance, riding capability.

K 1300 R - A striking, muscular naked bike, with extremely high performance, the K 1300 R is the most technically advanced in its class.

S 1000 RR - The first ever superbike in the BMW Motorrad range. The race bike will make its debut in the 2009 World Superbike Championship, with a road version of the superbike available to buy in early 2010.

Fastest, lightest, most advanced BMW Boxer of all time

As an ardent fan of the BMW Boxer engine I was delighted to read BMW Motorrad's recent press release that the new BMW HP2 Sport motorcycle will be available to buy in the UK from spring 2008.

The 100,000th BMW R 1200 GS



BMW Motorrad has just celebrated the building of the 100,000th BMW R 1200 GS, making the BMW R 1200 GS the most successful BMW motorcycle of all time. Read what BMW Mottorrad UK have to say here.

BMW Motorrad will acquire Husqvarna Motorcycles


Didn't see this one coming! MV Augusta Group has announced that BMW Motorrad are to acquire the off-road motorcycle company Husqvarna Motorcycles. Apparently BMW Motorrad intend to continue to run Husqvarna as a separate company.
