YAMAHA R1 2010 SPECIFICATION
* The YZF-R1 garnered the prestigious award as the 2009 Motorcycle of the Year from Motorcyclist Magazine. The YZF-R1 was chosen for its MotoGP®-inspired engine and chassis technology, and for its luxurious fit and finish.
* Back for 2010, the YZF-R1 is the only production motorcycle with a crossplane crankshaft. Crossplane technology, first pioneered in MotoGP® racing with the M1, puts each piston 90° from the next, with an uneven firing interval of 270°- 180°- 90°- 180°. This uneven order does an amazing thing… it actually lets power build more smoothly. That means smooth roll-on delivery out of the corners, with outstanding tractability, followed by very strong high rpm power. It’s a feeling that’s simply unmatched, like having two engines in one: the low-rpm torquey feel of a twin with the raw, high rpm power of an inline four. This breakthrough technology on the YZF-R1 represents a paradigm shift in both technology and performance.
* This R1 keeps all the technological superiorities developed for its predecessor: YCC-T™ (Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle) is MotoGP® inspired fly-by-wire technology used to deliver instant throttle response. YCC-I® is Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake which is a variable intake system that broadens the spread of power. The fuel injection system provides optimum air/fuel mixtures for maximum power and smooth throttle response.
* The R1 features Yamaha D-MODE (or drive mode) with rider-selectable throttle control maps to program YCC-T performance characteristics for riding conditions. The standard map is designed for optimum overall performance. The “A” mode lets the rider enjoy sportier engine response in the low- to mid-speed range, and the “B” mode offers response that is somewhat less sharp for riding situations that require especially sensitive throttle operation. Switching maps is as easy as pushing a button on the handlebar switch.
* In keeping with this machine’s exceptional cornering ability and crisp handling, the aluminum frame has been designed to offer exceptional rigidity balance. The rear frame is lightweight Controlled-Fill die-cast magnesium, contributing the optimum mass centralization. Suspension includes SOQI front forks which use one of the tricks developed for our winning MotoGP® bikes: independent damping. The left fork handles compression damping and the right side handles the rebound damping. And the rear shock adopts bottom linkage for optimum suspension characteristics.
* The bodywork does more than add break-away-from-the-crowd styling with its more serious, less busy look. The side fairing is smooth for a sleek appearance. And, instead of the usual four-bulb headlight design, the R1 has only two projector-type bulbs mounted closer to the nose of the bike. This positions ram air ducts closer in for a more compact, smooth look. In addition, the rounded lenses are unique to the supersport industry.

Honda CB1000F unveiled
Honda UK have unveiled a further addition to the range for Honda CBF1000 bikes, with their new Honda CBF1000F.
The new CBF1000F has a single exhaust end-can to its 998cc Fireblade-derived motor, which is tuned for torque, but has a slightly higher compression ratio to the existing CBF1000 range and around 10bhp more. Honda’s frugal PGM-FI system makes the CBF1000F 7% more fuel-efficient. The 1000F also has a new aluminium frame, replacing the steel original, with improved suspension and adjustability. Honda’s revolutionary Combined ABS (C-ABS) system is included as well.
The CBF1000F has a racier, slimmer look to the half-fairing and a new dash layout. This includes a large, central analogue rev-counter and digital speedometer along with a dual trip meters and fuel gauge, which also shows both real-time and average fuel consumption. The CBF1000F features a four-position windscreen, three-position seat and adjustable handlebars.
The new CBF1000F genuine Honda accessories available include, luggage, heated grips, alarm and U-lock. It will be available in four new colours – Pearl Nightstar Black, Quasar Silver Metallic, Pearl Cool White and Pearl Amber Yellow - all finished-off withblack-finished engine covers and six-spoke wheels. The price of the CBF1000F is anticipated to be around £9,000.
It is expected to have an Autumn launch date in Honda Dealers.

Triumph Sprint GT Sports Tourer launched
Yesterday Triumph announced the launch of the Triumph Sprint GT Sports Tourer. Based on the highly successful Triumph Sprint , Triumph have made a host of changes to make this model more touring orientated resulting in a new version, the Sprint GT.
The changes include:-
- the GT features newly-styled and better performing reflector headlights, offering improved distribution of light
- while a new internal mounting system for the mirrors gives a clearer view at speed
- the cockpit itself has been restyled to give a sharper and more contemporary look and is equipped with a comprehensive three dial instrument panel
- the onboard computer allows the rider to scroll through fuel consumption, range-to-empty, journey time, average speed and clock functions
- the ST’s underseat exhaust has been replaced by a side mounted, triangular system, which not only releases more horsepower but also frees up underseat storage space
- the new seat sits the pillion lower than on the Sprint ST with comfort further aided by lower footpegs
- the built in luggage rack comes with generous grab handles as standard
- a new, lighter weight rear wheel, shod with Bridgestone’s dual compound BT021 tyre combines with the GT’s longer wheelbase to maintain excellent stability even when fully laden
- front and rear suspension has also been updated for excellent compliance and control
- brakes have been revised with lighter discs, more rigidly mounted for greater durability, and a new brake pad formulation providing greater feel and approximately 10% increase in braking performance
- 1050cc triple has also been updated for the Sprint GT, offering even better drivability than in previous incarnations
- A new exhaust system and revised ECU lifts peak power by 5bhp to 130bhp (@9,200rpm) over the Sprint ST
- the engine has been tuned for even stronger mid range, with peak torque increased by 5Nm to 108Nm (80 Ft.lb) and delivered 1,200rpm lower in the rev range for effortless acceleration and even easier overtaking
- 20 litre fuel tank ensures the Sprint GT can comfortably cover 200 miles between fuel stops
- latest generation engine management system not only helps deliver more power and torque, it also gives a small improvement to fuel consumption and ensures that the Sprint GT delivers the smoothest throttle response of any 1050 yet
- sixth gear on the Sprint GT is 7% taller than on the ST, delivering more relaxed motorway riding and improved touring economy
- new 31 litre panniers and ABS brakes as standard
- optional top box capable of swallowing two full sized helmets and offering a 12 volt power supply to allow ‘on the go’ charging of electrical items
The new bike will be available in Triumph dealers by the end of the month in a choice of two colours, Aluminium Silver and Pacific Blue.
The price apparently will be £9,499 on the road.
